Restore using Record Job & Session Information Only option

I have a question reqarding restores when using the Record Job & Session Information Only option under the operations tab on a backup job. Currently, we use the detail, but I have one server that contains over 250,000 little files. It takes several hours just for the database cataloging. I would like to try the Record Job & Session information only option to see if that would help.

How would you restore an individual file if you used this option? Would you have to merge the database or would you have to restore the entire session somewhere else and pick the file you needed out? Or is there another way.

You can use filters to include just the files you want to restore from the particular session.
