I know my Definity G3i is set to save translations every night. But I see a flash card in the processor card. How do I check/make sure the backup is also being backed up to that card besides the hardrive???

G3i's don't have a hard drive. If the system reboots the basic OS is in the firmware of the processor board. The translantions are loaded from the flashcard. You don't mention what software load you have. You may be able to check the history file (list history) or do 'list configuration software', or 'status card'.

Thank you. It does show the translation save in list history.

Also stat card says this:

MEMORY CARD STATUS

Location: 01A Write Protection: NA
Status: inserted Capacity (MB): 16 ATA Card
System Size: medium Number of Erase Pulses:
Card Format: post-G3V8 Translation Storage Space Used (%): 5

File Name Data Present Date Time

translation y 04/18/07 1:01
announcements n
firmware n

Thats means its backing up to card correctly right??
Is there any way to then back up the card to another source???

Andre

On a G3si no. You can purchase additional flashcards and rotate them.

When I hear people say G3si, is that the same as G3csi?

I am managing multiple systems across the world and am not able to look at the boxes themselves...just managing them remotely...so i appreciate the help!

So to be clear, I know the G3X (S series...8400, 8700) these are the server series and have Hardrives right? So when you do a save translation it saves from the memory to the hardrive, correct? Then you have the option of backing up that data on the hardrive to any number of other sources: FTP, email...ect.

But as far as the old series G3 series, which ones have hardrives and which do not? What is the dif between G3R, G3I, G3si, and G3csi? are there any others??

Cheers!
Andre
