Hi,
How do I restore a win2000 client backups to other windows PC, the original client is down. I could restore to the server which is Unix file system, and will not be able to read in windows files system.
Any idea?
Thanks

Are you just looking to restore data or O/S? It makes all the difference - If just data, just do an alternate client restore.

Try to restore user files
I add a file /usr/openv/netbackup/altnames/No.Restrictions , but all restores always goes the backup server (Unix).

I realy need help on this.

Thanks

If you are using the "backup. Archive and Restore" GUI, specify the client and select the files that you want to restore. Change the destination client to the server that you want to restore the files to. When you click on restore, select the option "Restore Individual files and folder to a different location" (The middle option. select the directory etc and change the location to the full UNC of the destination - I have restored hundreds of files this way and never had a problem. One thing though - Where ever you are running the GUI from, that station needs the necessary access to master, media and destination. If you have problems, run it from the master.

tried to enter \\delmar\d$\temp or \\delamr\temp it said invalid destination pathname...delmar is win2k server

Does that destination need to ba a client?

You may have a DNS issue - Try either the FQDN or the IP.

PGPhantom,
The restore has to be from an other client, I install an other win2k client and restore from the new client, it works., I can not use backup server (unix) to restore a NT client.
Thanks for you help.
