We have a W2K server as a primary domain controller (with Active Directory integrated). The system went to a blue screen after rebooting. We restore the OS partition from a backup disk image, but the client system has to rejoin the domain after this restore.

How can we prevent and fix this, so after the restore, we don't have to repair every clients.

Sounds like your computer account passwords were not up to date when you restored. Try going to your Computers container, select a computer that is not connecting, right-click and select Reset Account. Reboot the computer and see if you can log into the domain then. If that works, perform the operation on the rest of your computers.

ok what you did not go in to:

did you seize the FSMO roles to another DC?
how long was the DC down?

netdom resetpwd command can be used to programmatically rejoin...or a vbscript
