Compaq DL380 with 3GB of memory, 4 CPU's, C drive 7GB, D drive 43GB with a Qualstar 412180 library with 6 AIT-3 drives. I am running 3 drives in a Raid 0 configuration, Arcserve 2K AE just applied SP4. Connected through a private GB network I get a throughput on a SQL database backup of about 1.2 GB/min. However the restore of the same database runs at 330 MB/min. If I detach the database and run a flat file backup and restore the throughput on the backup is 1.4 GB/min while the restore is 440 MB/min. The throughput on a backup is about half the speed I got with the trail version of Legato, I was told by CA that since Arcserve doesn't use tape stripping the backup would be slower, but the restores would be faster than Legato. Has anyone seen this kind of speed difference on a SQL database. Any ideas on how to speed up this restore?
