I have a Windows 2008 R2 server running with a Dell PERC 6/i RAID controller.

I have made a backup of the server and now I want to restore to a Hyper-V virtual machine.

I believe I need to replace the RAID driver with drivers for Hyper-V. When I try to do a restore from the Windows 2008 R2 boot disk, I have the option to "load drivers" I think this is where I would load the disk drivers for Hyper-V.

I appreciate any advise on doing this.

Thanks,
Mark

You don't "load drivers" for Hyper-V. If you are trying to restore a physical host into a VM (as opposed to doing a true P2V) then you will need to remove all physical drivers from the restored VM and then install the Hyper-V integration components.

I haven't tested this, but I would probably say you should build a VM, then restore the backup over top of the VM, then boot into safe mode and remove all physical drivers, then boot into normal mode an install the Hyper-V Integration Components. That should get you there, but you would be better off doing an actual P2V with SCVMM.
