This worked last week, but now when I click the restore selection tab, my window shows "All Media" and won't expand/break out when I click on it. Exiting Backup Exec and starting over doesn't change this.

All scheduled backups show that they complete successfully, though.

Any ideas?

More than likely the index file got corrupt. Close Backup Exec and stop the services. Locate BETOPCAT.IDX in the catalogs folder where Backup Exec is installed. Rename it. Betopcat.old is fine. Restart services to regenerate the index. Open Backup Exec. Working now?

I tried the suggested fix for the index but I still see no media or volumn listings to restore. I have tried to inventory then catalog but when I catalog I am told that I need to inventory. ANY OTHER SUGGESTIONS? PLEASE!!!!

I am having the same problem. We have a single-tape drive and I first inventory the drive and then catalog the media. It seems to work fine but when I try and restore from the media it tells me I need to catalogue it, which I just did!!! I tried the fix where you delete the .idx file and any temp files from the \backup exec\catalogs directory to no avail. I do have about 80mb of catalogues that directory but when I go to the restore tab in backup exec there is nothing there. Just emptiness! I think my next course of action will be to reinstall backup exec.

Just some info on our server:
*Windows NT 4.0 SBS running on an HP Netserver E60
*Latest Service Pack
*Veritas backup Exec 7.3 Single Server Edition

Hi,

The best bet is to stop all BE services!

Delete all files from the \catalogs folder!

Then restart all services.

You will now need to re-catalog all tapes you want to
restore from, you will be now able to expand selections.

Sorry just to add!

When you've done the above, to catalog. You will need to Inventory before you catalog.

You can do this by going to the "media" tab right clicking the tab, then inventory first! You will then be Ok to catalog.
