I have a backup from SQL Server 6.5 (a DAT file). Is it possible to restore that backup on a SQL Server 7.0 or 2000. I no longer have 6.5 installed.

Did you find a solution to this? I have the same issue. We have a 6.5 db on 5 cd's that I need to restore on 7.0 or, even better SQL 2000. We no longer have 6.5 installed anywhere and would like to avoid building a server to install it on, if possible.

Did you try this? Did you have any issues?

Thanks in advance,
Sunny

This also applies for SQL Server 2000 by the way.

Thanks

I think the problem is that neither of us still have SQL Server 6.5 installed anywhere on our network nor do we have access to the installation cds. All we have is a backup of the data from 6.5. We are requesting assistance/advice on getting that data to a restorable/readable format.

Thanks,
Terry

Don't think it is possible without a v6.5 installation.

Cursors are useful if you don't know sql.
DTS can be used in a similar way.

Does Microsoft still offer SQL Server 6.5 or is there an alternate (legal) supplier?
