Has anyone ever had a problem when doing a restore, where if you look at the file on the tape is is approx 10mb, but when you restore it, it is 0mb. No matter how I restore it, I get the same results.

slgordon,

What version of AIX is this and what command are you using: I would use in AIX 4:

cd /tmp

restore -s4 -xvqdf /dev/rmt0.1 ./path_to_file

AIX 4.3.3.0
I am using restore -ivf /dev/rmt0.1 and selecting the files that I want and extracting them.
I will try your way to see if that works.
Thanks

Slgordon,

I assumed that is was a mksysb backup - my command will only work if this is the case.

Let me know the commands you are using to backup....

Cheers

I'm using:
backup -0 -u -f /dev/rmt0.1 /
I figured it out though.
I grabbed the whole dir that the file was in and it worked.
Thanks for your help.
