Restore problem In SPS

Hi,

I have a backup of share point server which recently crashed,now i am installing a new server(Fresh Installation) and trying to restore that backup of sharepoint portla server but could not see the workspace
i.e i can only see TEST Workspace in Share Point Portal Administrator,my other three workspace cannot be seen and when i try to create the same name workspace which is not seen there it gives me error "workspace already exists"

Can somebody urgently help me out as i am screwed up
my Backup file size:900mb
SPS ver:sharepoint version 2001 beta(As we were testing)and about to upgrade the above thing happened)
Service pack 1

Pls help me out of this
