My 2003 server died, but I have a system status backup. I want to restore ONLY the AD info. I have restored the whole system status and it put back a bunch of settings and stuff I didn't want. I beleive it puts back the registry and a bunch of other stuff. Is there anything I can do to restore only the AD data.

p.s.
I will be doing the restore on a different PC the the original.

Thanks for your help.

The system state includes the Active Directory information, along with the registry, COM+ settings, etc. There is no way to restore parts of the system state with the native NTBackup software in Windows.

Now, I seem to recall hearing that BackupExec allows you to restore parts of the system state, but I have not seen it for myself.
