Is there any catch?

I tried restoring one of the clients on virtual machine. After completing restore of c: and system object (registry first), i did reboot, and it worked, but on later restart the client crushed. There was message that c:\WINNT\system32\ntoskrnl.exe is missing or corrupted.
I've already done restore of damaged client but on the same type piece of hardware, and it was succesfull. What could I've done wrong now? Or, is there any catch considering virtual machines?

Thanks!
