Hello,

We are using an Access 2003 application. It is database driven with Mic. SQL 2000 SP2. This server runs our custom application that is responsible for inventory.

The Mic. SQL 2000 server had a hard drive failure. It had to be replaced. We racked a new member server with the same name. We reinstalled SQL 2000 with SP2.

We restored the Master database and the User d.base.(We restored Master with rebuildm and sqlservr.exe -c -m.). After, we restored the User d.base.

After the restore, most of the data is present.

****We are missing the database security and jobs. Can I get your advice on this issue? What did we do wrong? How can we get the database security and jobs back? Thanks.

The jobs are stored in the msdb database. you must restore that database to get back your jobs.

Can you define what you mean by missing security?

Thanks for the reply.

For security, we are going into SQL Ent. Manager > Security > Logins. (After the server went down, we can't recover the logins.).

We didn't document the logins, we are having problems adding them again. These is creating more issues with our front end application.

Thanks.

The login are stored in the master database and linked to the user account in each database. Are you sure you restored the master database successfully?

Since you mentioned that you used rebuildm and not the restore database command I'm guessing that you simply rebuilt the master database after you installed SQL instead of actually restoring the database.

Do you have a backup of the master database from before the server crashed?
