My exchange 5.5 server died with a corrupt master boot record. I was able to boot off of an XP CD and copy the directory structure to a safe place.

Now I have a brand new server running 2003 Small Business Server with Exchange 2003.

Is there a way I can restore the user mailboxes to their new mailbox?

The mdb files are incompatible. You'll need to load 5.5 on another box, mount the databases, and do an exmerge.

Another way is to use a recovery utility that doesn't require exchange. One such utility is PowerControls by Ontrack.

Thanks for the info, if the product does what it says, then I am good. Very pricy considering I have 13 mail boxes, but the amount of time it would take to rebuild that first server would probably be more expensive.
