Hi,

We have an issue when restoring files on a server with Arcserve 11.5.
The tapes are from 2006 and after merging them into the database I can only see the session 00001 and 00002. The problem is that I don't see the subfolders for each session, which I do on newly performed backups. The merge process works well, both tapes are merged in the DB but still no tree structure available.
I would like to avoid restoring the 300+ GB just to get to one file.

Any ideas?

Regards,
GSC

try a Restore by Media and then add an include filter for the file.
or
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ComputerAssociates\CA ARCserve Backup\Base\Task\Merge key:

DonotUseCatalogMerge
Set DonotUseCatalogMerge:REG_DWORD:1 (TRUE) to disable the use of catalog files. The default is 0 (FALSE).

I will then have to restore all the data from that media, right?

We did another test today where I de-installed arcserve and reinstalled it and merged these two tapes again.
What I found very strange are the restore sessions. For this backup there are two restore sessions available, one is called Monthly 8-1 and the second one is called Monthly 8/1
In each restore session there are two backup sessions called Session 00001 Monthly 8/1 and Session 00002 Monthly 8/2 (sequence 1 & 2)

Thanks,
GSC

the sequential merge has nothing to do with restore. it configures the merge operation to read the data on tape instead of using the catalog files to do the merge.
