Restore from Archive tapes

I need to restore some file from the archive tapes. I have put the offsite tapes back in the tape robot. I ran vmupdate -rt tld -rn 0 [-M rcspim]

from what i understand, I need to first assign the tape and then catalog the tapes. However, I am having problem with the assignment of the tape. It either get no entuty was found or this media cannot be assign.

HELP
