Restore folders with original date

Is there any way to restore folders from a backup to a new volume and preserve the modified date on the folder? I am using Windows 2000 server and the backup program that is built into Windows. If I restore backup data to an empty volume, the folder dates are given the current date, but the file dates remain correct.
