Is there a way to restore file system security. Primarily the Windows directory and its subdirectories.

Thanks

What do you mean by restore? Do you mean to the way it was when you first installed windows?

If so, the only thing I could think of is a repair install of windows.

What happened that is prompting you to want to do this?

Thanks,
Andrew

Do you have a backup you can restore from? Alternatively, you may be able to apply a predefined security template. The Setup security.inf template is created during installation and can restore the default security configuration that existed when Windows was installed on the machine. I have also linked an article that describes the default NTFS permissions on directories in Windows 2000 that may offer assistance for you as well.
