Hi all,

I did a tar backup with the following command:
tar -cvf /dev/rmt/0mn /xnxnxn
Basically I'm backing up a directory called xnxnxn that contains a ton of files to a 4mm DAT. Can I restore an individual file from my tar tape back into that directory or do I have to restore the entire directory?
Let's say the file name is /xnxnxn/PROGRAMS...what is the correct syntax??

Thanks......

try :- tar -xvf /dev/rmt/0mn /xnxnxn/PROGRAMS
This will extract only the named file(s)
