Restore err with Notes Agent & RPC service

Hi,

We have 2 servers, 1st is a PDC with Arcserve 9 Build 2030 (with patchs QO38491 & QO41638). 2nd is a W2K Lotus 5.07a Domino server (Mail) with the Backup Agent for Lotus Notes (from Arcserve 9 CD) installed on it. From the PDC I can backup Domino data to tape OK. When I try to restore the data to any location it fails (after only a few seconds) with error...

E8601 Failed to connect agent.
(Agent = \\Hshgue-dns\dbanotes, EC=DBAgent RPC server is not started or not available.)

There is no C:\dbanotes on the PDC and Domino is not installed on it. I know Domino is required for the Notes Agent. From the msg it seems like Arcserve is looking for the Notes Agent on the PDC...?

From searching on Google most solutions point to Backup Agent RPC service being restarted, have done this on Mail but still the same..

Any ideas...?

Another question, why is it trying to use the agent if I am performing a RESTORE FROM TAPE????

Backup with agent - must restore with agent
the session is marked as a db agent session and so is only restorable via the db agent.

Are you trying to restore to an alternate location or back to the same Domino server ? In any case the notes agent must be used to restore.
