This is basically the problem that I faced in restoring the db.

When I click on Restore -> Database, and specify the db and the backup file name, then it gives me this error

Microsoft SQL-DMO (ODBC - SQLState: 42000)

The backup set holds a backup of a database other than the existing 'VS' database. Backup or restore operation terminating abnormally.

The same error comes when I try to Restore -> from Device.

I checked the header of the .BAK file and it is definitely backed up from MS SQL, but its just not working. Can you help me with this?

Thanks,

Check for the languages of your server and the database from you are restoring the data. If it is different for both it will give error and will not restore. E.g. English vs ISO vs ANSI

Language is specified while installing/reinstalling. You can go and check in the configuration settings.

All the best.
