Hi,

I have a dell 2400 and another one from my work with no OS. But I have the restore cds and the os cd, Will that work?

Will what work?

Using Dell Windows XP install CD to install on another computer?

Replacement of CD or Product Keys.

To replace a CD or Product Key, you must contact PSS. To locate the appropriate phone number for your product, visit the following Microsoft Web site:

326246 - How to Replace Lost, Broken, or Missing Microsoft Software or Hardware

Since Dell stores their Windows Keys in the BIOS, I have had no problems using one Dell Windows disk for all my PC's. The only problem I have run into is that on the newer machines with SATA DVD/CD ROMS I cant use the older XP disks. They just don't have the SATA drivers at load up. If you don't have a SATA ROM drive you shouldn't have any problem. We have about 40 Dell desktops and laptops on our network and all were installed with the same 2 or 3 XP disks.

Cheers
Rob
