Hi: Can anybody help me understand and fix a problem I have when trying to do a restore by session. This is running
(Arcserve Advance Edition 6.61 build 834 Service Pak 2) for (NT 4 Sevice Pak 6)
I have one backup job which I run every night. Some of the restore by sessions will allow me to drill down to the individual file level while others will not. If I look at the information on the right hand side of the screen, I see that the restore that does not work has a "NO DETAIL" beside the session flags. The ones that do work does not have this.
They both have REGISTRY/BINDERY,DRIVE,CATALOG

Thank you in advance

I usually don't repsond unless I can be of some assistance, but I'll make an exception in this case.

It doesn't work consistently because ArcServe is junk. I have the same problem. Take a look around at the other 'Restore by' options. Chances are you won't see all of them act consistently either.

If anyone has an explanation for this phenom please let us know. I doubt that there's a solution, but understanding the problem would be better than nothing. Monkeylizard

In your backup job, options, operation tab, is database set to 'Record Detail Information'? It should be!

Yes my Record Detail Information is set.

I have heard that there might be some kind of a
"number of files" limitation. Could this be true?????

I haven't heard that, but nothing would suprise me!

Have you seen this similar thread? thread478-117175

Mabye it will help.

Anybody else got any ideas?

There is a full discussion of this about 30-50 message threads back. Glenn A

I had this problem too. I discovered that in the database administrator, records were purged after only 30 days. Up that to how long you keep the tapes (hope you have lots of database space). Otherwise, you have to do the merge option to merge the information on the tape back into the database--only to have it purged again if you don't up the numbers. I upped to 120 days and can drill down for back tapes. LOL
