Hello ALL

Thanks in ADVANCE...

Here is my QUESTION/PROBLEM

I am trying to restore files by session. The files were originally from a server whose POWER SUPPLY went bad (and is being repaired as we speak). This server also had ARCSERVE 2000 on it.

I installed arcserve on a new server.. It can read the session but it DOES NOT expand to directories or files..

This has to be a fundamental problem.. Sorry for my stupidity in advance..

Thanks Again

Rob

When you use the restore by session option it does not give you an option to restore individual files or folders. You have to merge the tape into the database in order to restore by directory or file. Hope this helps.

As mentioned before on this forum stupid questions don't exist. Go to the job status screen, choose manager-utilities-merge and choose the media you want to restore data from. This utility will put the file-and-folder information into the database. After this session is completed you will be able to expand the tree with the restore by session method.

Hope this is what you seek

regards

If you are not using SQL as the ARCserve database, and it was backed up on current tape, then you could also do a RecoverDB to restore the database to the new server.
