We are planning to go to our Hotsite to have a DR test . We now have 7028-6C4( Regatta). Has anyone restore a NIM server at a hotsite . Did you use your MKSYSB to restore the server and then restored the other O/S from the restored NIM server . We are looking to back the NIM server to TSM and then restore the NIM from TSM .. Also does anyone have documentation you don,t mine sharing or were I can obtain some .

June54,

You recover the NIM server just like any other RS6000 that is restoring via MKSYSB.. Depending on how you have your NIM server setup it may contain all of the images for your NIM Clients or you may have to restore the images once the MKSYSB resotre has completed..

You will have to configure your network approiately at the DR site and then you are ready to NET boot the clients.. I have restored a Regatta many times via mksysb and via NIM. What I do is create a partition and have that be my NIM server to restore the other LPAR's on my Regatta..

For Documentation check out IBM RedBook NIM from A to Z

Thankyou FrankAIX for getting back and I appreciate the knowledge transfer ..........
