I need to reinstall Windows 2000 onto the SQL server. I have been looking into a number of options and would like to find the quickest. I have found that if I format the C:\ drive and install Windows, then SQL server + SP to old level. stop the service and just copy all the old SQL database files including the master, msdb&model back into the SQL data directory, and start SQL server it works. without having to do backup/restore commands.
Is there a reason why I should not be doing this?
Many thanks in advance
