So, I've been asked the following question:

"Do we have the ability to process mainframe created tapes, or do all tapes have to be converted to "Server" format for us to be able to read them?
Are we capable of processing EBCIDIC data, or would data need to be translated to ASCII for us to be able to process?"

We don't have any mainframes in house and I have no experience with them. We are getting ready to receive tapes from a client and they posed the previous question. Anyone have any idea if there would be issues restoring from a tape created on a mainframe to a plain ol' server?

Thanks
