I'm trying to take a customers programming back to the shop and copy it to another 2.5 drive & card. The drive is a 2.5 FP1 but the MSC card was in a unit that had been 3.7. Voicemail programming transfered no problem. The telephony part after 2 attempts says unable to restore at this time. Is that because the MSC is coded as 3.7 right now? I could go and get a virgin 2.5 drive and install that in the machine so as to initialize the card with the 2.5 "bios" but wondered if there was a quicker way to downgrade the MSC card which is why I think it won't accept the programming. Any ideas are appreciated.

MSC may already have a system ID attached to it that is different to your original system. MSC cards aren't tied to a s/w level.

The BCM is entirely functional, versions identical, and the voicemail programming has been transfered. I'm thinking that there must be a version code written to the MSC card when you boot it from a virgin drive (i.e. a 3.7). The system comes up fine and works ok, except when you attempt to transfer the telephony programming you get:
Uploading data to media services card. Attempt 1 ...
At the moment is not possible to perform a Telephony restore.
Uploading data to media services card. Attempt 2 ...
At the moment is not possible to perform a Telephony restore.

I'm just wondering if there's a way to re-initialize the MSC card from the now 2.5 FP1 drive that's in the machine or do I need to get a virgin drive that will install to the card? Any ideas or methods to re-initialize?

Ah...so what ur saying is the MSC came out of a new 3.7 system and the HD came out of a 2.5 system. Ok whenever you install a new MSC, you must upload core software from the hard disk. This is done through programming via the serial port.

Until you make the MSC the same Ver as the BCM you won't be able to do any thing.

This is a Signature and not part of the answer, it appears on every reply.

This is an Analogy so don't take it personally as some have.

Why change the engine if all you need is to change the spark plugs.

You need to run a platform initialization on the 2.5 machine so that the MSC is running the correct core telephony.

after that has been done, you can restore the telephony to that unit from your backup.
