IE
I upgraded from '95 to '98, now when I try to restart
in ms-dos mode the computer goes to a blank screen
with a flashing cursor in top left corner and just hangs
there and will not go to dos mode. Is there something
I need to upgrade or set within windows'98 to get this
to work.? [sig][/sig]

Does Windows boot normally?
Does this occur when you shut down in Windows and select "restart in DOS mode", or does it occur when you select it from the boot up menu?

Can you enter a dos window OK.

Ie START / RUN type in "command" withour the quotes and hit return, could be you have more that one copy of command.com or the hidden sys files IO.SYS etc.... [sig][/sig]

Found problem caused by windows '98 not shutting down properly. I downloaded and ran " 4756us8.exe " from microsoft windows 98 updates and now windows shuts down properly with no problems restarting in dos mode. [sig][/sig]
