Question regarding ARCserve v.11:

We have a database pruning job and a standard backup job set to run nightly to tape. About a month ago, we had to modify the latter, following a change to our admin password. Now, the former is -- for some reason -- causing the database engine to shut down after the jobs complete on a nightly basis. Is there any way to automate the database engine restarting every day?

Thanks,
Toby

There are predefined batch files in
C:\Program Files\CA\BrightStor ARCserve Backup
called
cstop.bat and cstart.bat

The cstart.bat file might be a temporary fix until you can figure out why the backup job(s) is killing the database engine. Just schedule this to run after your backups with the full path which should be the same or similar to the path above.

In the backup job that you modified check to be sure that there isn't anything defined in the Pre/Post section under options that might cause this database engine to end. Also make sure you have the latest service pack and updates for Arcserve.
