This morning when I came in, I had to restart my Windows 2000 Server. When it started restarting, everything worked normal until it reached the Login screen where it automatically restarted. This kept happening every time at the same moment. It was like an infinite loop. So I did a search on the Internet and found out that it could possibly be a defective power supply. So I went ahead and replaced the power supply. No use. The restarts were still happening at the same instant.

I tried restarting in Safe Mode, Safe Mode with command Prompt, but still the same problem. Automatic Restart. Finally, I tried restarting with LKCF and it booted fine and is running right now. However, I do want to know what caused this error. If anybody can encountered this before and knows why this happens, please share so we can prevent this in the future. Thanks once again for your replies.

It sounds like some corruption occurred, I witnessed exactly the same problem occur on a workmates machine.

I would assume that there was an error message of some description but that the server restarted as soon as it occured, as is specified under "system/advanced/startup and recovery/".

Russell.
