After installing patches I keep getting the aggravating message popup that keeps giving me the option of 'reboot' or 'wait to reboot' which is fine but if I select 'wait' the popup keeps appearing. Its one of the dumbest things ever. Hello! I made my selection, now I’m trying to finish what I’m doing. How can I get it to stop?

Also, occasionally it seems to decide that it’s waited long enough and reboots itself? Is this just my imagination or is it really happening?

Did you install the patches under administrator then reboot using another account with less privilages? Sometimes after updates etc. the finalisation occurs after the reboot and after you log in. If not you may to to look in the start up tab in msconfig. Start/Run/Msconfig

None of these are Microsoft messages, if you are quoting them correctly.
This is malware.

Run, installed etc... as same and only Admin user has access to affected machines.

Not malware and you are correct I'm not useing exact message. The problem still exists.

The only thing that gets loaded on the machines in question is MS software and OS as well as antivirus, anti-spyware and popup blockers all purchased retail and well know, highly rated products.

The only internet connection is for patches and remote connection to office which has even tighter security. Email, web-surfing etc... is reserved for another machine that is not part of the main network and is configured so it doesn't have access to the rest of the home network.

Could you give the exact message?

I for one, would like a Net View \\problem_name

Report of the exact error number and full error text. There are nearly 2000 error messages under Windows Networking that include "not found" and/or "not available".

We honestly can help:

Start, Run, netsh diag gui
Enable all options.

What reports as an error?

Please post an IPCONFIG /All back to the Forum.

its not an error, he is talking about the microsoft message that pops up after you run some of the microsoft updates that require you to reboot afterwards. It gives you the choice to reboot now or reboot later, he wants to make it go away and stay away after he selects reboot later.
