Hi,
is there a possibility (without big programming effort) to upload e.g. a holiday plan from excel into MS Project Ressource calendars? (I'm working with Project Proffessional 2003 on a Project Server).
Thanks, Nina
1. Write some sql to to access Project Server tables directly. Not recommended but certainly the most powerful approach.
2. Create an Admin type project (Call it "Holidays" -- how original!). Assign all resources to the project. Open the project, open the calendar for a resource and mark the calendars there. The impact of the vacation schedules will be automatically reflected in all other projects (as will any changes the resource makes).
3. There might be a way to get each resource to actually open his/her calendar and request vacation time but I'm not a Server expert and don't have my copy of Proj server up and running rght now to check this out.
I'm not sure about how to do as you request... but there may be an easier way. Project has a calendar wizard that can be used for that purpose, (takes about 5 minutes). Once you set up the holidays in the calendar one time and save it as "Company calendar" or something like that, you can then save it to the Global.mpt file and then use that as the basic calendar for all your projects. Hope this a better way to solve your issue.
