Im using Microsoft Access as front end & Mysql as back end.
When I try to view the data contents of a table the response time before actually seeing the contents of the table is about 45 seconds.
the table in question has 12 fields and holds aprox 7000 records, not a huge table I would think to be so slow to open.
Can anyone suggest what my problem would be or is this time response expected when using MA as front end. I have an AMD 2000 / 512 ram so I dont think it is my computer

in advance
Thanks for any help you can offer

First question - is your table indexed for the field(s) you are querying? If not then I would add one with a CREATE INDEX command or ALTER TABLE command. If yes then be absolutely sure that the reference to your access variable is of the same type as your index(ed) field(s). If not then MySQL is most likely reading the entire table before returning any entrie(s).

Thank you for your reply
yes table fields are indexed,
.
I am trying to see the complete 7000 records and then scroll thu.
So should I expect a lengthy search. I did not think 7000 records was a large dtabase to search thru
Once the data does come on screen, if I try to scroll to the last record, the database hangs.
