Im using ms sql servers clustered, it is the backend for my web data. When the link from the web server is broken by stopping the lasso service and restarted, it takes up to 30min for the pages to pull the data from sql with decent response time (2-3 seconds) until them it may take 30-40 seconds to pull the data for the page. Any one have a clue as to why this would happen?

What is the 'lasso service'??

If a service on the cluster is stopped, it might be causing everything to failover. Depending on your setup, this might not be happening instantly. Some parts might be failing over before others and SQL Server might be taking a while to figure out that it needs to failover. Or your queries may be happening before the failover is complete.

I would start looking to see if a failover is happening. Have your sysadmin and/or DBA watch the cluster to see if a failover occurs and how long it takes for everything to come up.

Thanks for the info.

Lasso service runs on my web server and is used to pull the data from the sql server to the web pages. When this service is stopped and restarted on the web server for things like maint to the data base, then performance becomes very slow for about 30 min.

One note: the failover sytem doesnot have a cluster just the web server and sql, it doesnot have this problem.

Thanks for the reply I thought about that too, but I'm not sure I follow you on this, the server is not restarted just the service. We do the same process on our failover system that doesnt use the cluster and it doesnt have the same problem.

Ah, I see what you mean. I have been testing at different time intervals and seeing it gradually improve. I will restart the service and try your suggestion.
