Is there a way to configure a back up job to NOT require access to the desktop to click "OK" at the prompt to load a new tape when a second tape is required within a particular job?

I would prefer to be able to simply load a second tape and have the job continue automatically rather than needed to log onto the box and answer that inane question. Is this possible? Thanks for your help.

I presume you are using NT or W2k? You could set the Tape Engine service to not interact with the desktop, however I would not advise this as you would not get any other error messages appear on the screen. -----------------------------------------------------

Yeah, NT 4.0. I'm not so worried about pop up window error messages, as long as I could still see errors in the logs. I was searching CA's website and found a reference to turning "interact with desktop" ON if you are not receiving pop-ups, so if I turn it off, will the job continue to run after inserting the second tape? Or will it continue to wait for an answer to the system message, even though the message didn't pop up? Hmmm.

Heres the scenario. We have a tape mgmt crew that comes to our boxes during the night and switches tapes out, but are granted no access to log into the server whatsoever. Unfortunately, it HAS to be that way. All my other jobs on various machines only require one tape, so this was a new deal for me, and I am FAR more experienced with Veritas than ArcServe. My goal is to continue to allow the tape folks to come and switch tapes, and be able to have that job finish on the 2nd tape without requiring ANY end user interaction, other than physically changing the tape.

Appreciate your response, lemme know if with that added info, if turning off "interact with the desktop" will help me achieve that goal. Thanks Again...
