I have no Idea to identify the different of the resourceID and GUID. Is the GUID generate the resourceID?? Because as I think that if the GUID is duplicate, then thre resourceID will also me same. So that is a very big problem with our inventory. I know use newuid to renew the GUID. Then how about the resourceID. Can anyone help Me!!!!

The GUID is a unique identifier for a particular installation on the device. The ResourceID is the unique identifier for a particular record in the database.

If you reload a device with a new OS (keeping the same NIC and computer name), then reload SMS 2, the device will have a new GUID, but the ResourceID will very likely be the same and reflect a new OS and GUID.

By the way, the using the ResourceID and Revision ID in conjunction is used to identify historic records.
