As I've mentioned in previous threads, I know next to nothing about this HP3000 that we have. For some reason, it seems to be suddenly choking itself on something, eventually gettting to the point of not allowing login even from the console. After a restart, we can log in again, but it's quite slow to present the password prompt. Eventually it hangs when trying to log in or out. What is odd is that we seem to be able to continue using the application software (an MRP system) as long as we stay logged in. This system now only has 4 users & nothing has been changed (at least not intentinally). So, I was wondering if there's a way to view 'processes' and the resources used by them. I am wondering if there's some rogue login process or something strange consuming all the system resources.

More info:

It seems that trying to issue a HELLO command from a terminal (even though there's no prompt), eventually gets a DTS error - "Can't establish the connection"

So, perhaps this is a hardware problem with the DTS?

Got it - a failing hard drive has finished failing.

Hi, I was wondering if the system required to be rebuilt, and if so, how you're going.

We had a similar thing happen last year, but I had a small amount of warning, and so I was prepared.

FYI, this forum is relatively inactive. For prompt responses to your HP-3000/MPE questions, you should post to HP3000-L. You can view it in Google groups or go to raven.utc.edu.
