Resource Usage View - Manually Changing Hours

Hi there

I want to manually edit hours in the "resource usage", but the hours are greyed out. Any ideas why?

I performed the following steps:
1) Started a new project
2) Adding a single task called test
3) Assigned Joe to this task
4) Set duration to 4 days, and start date to today.

Then went to resource usage view. Joe appears as the resource, with test as the task under him. Against the test task, I would like to modify the hours - eg to show 8 hours in day 1, 4 hours in day2 etc. These hours are however greyed out, and I cannot modify them.

Any ideas?
