Hello,

Can anybody tell me if we need to have a event server installed to use the resource registery in Mercator maps??

I want to create a map which simply goes to the database & fetch some data for me using resource registry. I can't use Database Interface designer as per client's requirement.

Don't need resource registry either, you can use DBLOOKUP or DBQUERY from a map rule if you don't need to volidate the data (no DID, no type tree).

Resource registry works for Map Designer, Command Server and API, as well as Event Server.

Thx a lot for reply...

But i am working on existing system & the way we need to connect the database should be usint .mrc file that is used by resource registry.

Can i do it w/o having event sertver & command server installed..???

If you don't use Event Server or Command server, how do you run the map? As I said, the resource registry works with Map Designer, Command and Event Server and the API. As far as I know, those are the only way to run maps. What version of the product are you using?

All the resource registry is is a fancy lookup table.
You supply the resource registry variable for each of the DBQUERY command line options that you need (as long as they have been properly defined in the resource regisrty).

-user %username% -pass %pw% etc.
