I have heard that Project can recognize if a resource is being used at a particular time for a particular project and will come up with a risk associated with that resource if you try to "double book" him/her.

Please verify if this is true and how or where I can find out how. I will continue to look through my books and see if I can find the answer.

I apologize in advance if this is an easy fix because I am very new to Project. I also apologize if this is a Project Server issue!

Thanks everyone for your help (thanks PDQBach!)

Well, it will show you overallocations (in a variety of reports and displays - View | Resource usage or View | Resource graph).

As for "double-booking", in the context of project scheduling, that's a term I've never heard before. Perhaps you could explain.

As for raising a risk, that's why they pay PMs the big bucks: the ability identify risks, develop and implement a mitigation strategy, establish the triggers and, when necessary, take remedial action.

PDQBach excellent point, the deeper and deeper I get into project the more and more I want to take away from the PMs job. If I have project run the PMs full job the maybe our company can just divert her salary to my bank account!? (haha)

What I meant by double booking is if I have Resource Tom scheduled at 8 am today to complete some task but had him in another project scheduled at 8 am to complete a different task would that cause project to raise a risk?

I believe you are on to something about the overallocations and resource usage, I will look into that.

Thanks for you help (everytime I or any other project user posts a queston!)
