I have to answer a short question for a project management unit I am doing at uni, though I am not sure how.

The question is :

Desribed and explain resource planning models.

Any help would be much appreciated.

One of the most effective resource planning model is to align the organization breakdown structure (OBS) to the work breakdown structure (WBS). Where they intersect is called a control account (sometimes the term cost account is used). When used in conjunction with earned value project management you will have good control over resources before the project is even initiated. Since you are from the UK I am assuming that you are using PRINCE2 as the framework. You should have the master WBS and OBS asociated with the PID, and each control account identified in the stage initiation documents.
