Hi all,

I'm having a lot of problems levelling a complex MS Project schedule I have created. Specifically, when I level the project the final activity is shown to complete in 2047 (this is clearly wrong given the tasks and resources contained in the schedule).

I have identified the problem lies with one of the resources (I'll call him 'Fred') that is applied to the final task. The task is a 'Fixed Duration' of 25 days and Fred is applied to it for 10% of his time. There are another 4 resources applied to this task and their units are all varied between 10% and 50% on this task. The work should complete around 2010 given the resources available but for some reason this combination of resources and the task type are causing project to go 'hay-wire'!

Pleeeeeeease help as I'm going slowly mad!!! I know it's probably something simple but I can't work it out for the life of me!

Thanks again

Matt

There are lots of possibilities. Check Fred's calendar; check the task calendar; check the task to see if there is an a constraint because two resources need to be used; check the ask priority. Have you cleared the "levelling can adjust individual assignment"? Have you cleared "levelling can split"?

You could also select all resources but that one; level them and then hand level this problem resource.

I never could get Project's "leveling" function to work as well as I could do it myself, but thanks to PDQBach for pointing out some things I may have missed when using the automatic leveling.
