Resource Field

I'm not sure what your problem is.
Tools > Options > View-tab
In the grouping labelled "Show" make certain there is a check mark in the box "Entry bar"
View > Gantt
Display the Resource Names column
Click on any cell in the Resource Names column
If the total number of characters to be displayed is 255 or fewer then the "Entry bar" will display all characters.
If (because there are numerous resources with long names) the total number of characters to be displayed is 256 characters or more then the entry bar will display 252 characters followed by an elipsis (3 dots) indicating there is more data but it cannot be displayed. All assigned resources (even if you cannot see them) are there. This can be confirmed by pressing Alt+F10 to display the "Assign Resources" popup which will show you all assigned resources plus all resources not assigned.
You can also (which is the way most people work):
View > Gantt
Window > Split
At the bottom: RightMouseButton anywhere in the gray area and select "Resource Work".
In the "Resource Name" column of this display, you will see each assigned resource.
