Resource availability by task??

Here's my situation: I have a task of a particular project that runs for a couple months. I have one resource assigned to this task. At this point the task is about 3wks from completion. The probelm is that the resource assigned to this task has to be used elsewhere, so I need to assign another resource to finish the remainder of the task. In reality, this is no problem, but I can't figure a way to do it in project. Is there a way to assign two resources to a task, but have resource1 work for the first 2/3 of the task at 100%, and resource2 work for the last 1/3 at 100%?

There's no quick-and-easy way to do this.

Set up the display:
View > Task Usage
Window Split
RightMouseButton in the grey area at the bottom and select "Resource Schedule"

Set up the task:
In the bottom portion -
Set task type to "Fixed Work"
Click OK

Add the resource and work:
In the resource name column, select the new resource
In the work column, enter the amount of work.
Click OK

Adjust the dates:
Set *both* the Start and Finish dates for each resource you are adjusting. Even if you are not changing the Finish date for one of the resources you must click on the finish date to display the calendar and then click on the date already displayed in the calendar!
Click OK
