When a DHCP client starts on a network, it sends out broadcast DHCPDiscover or DHCPRequest messages. The DHCP messages sent by the client include the Chaddr (client hardware address) i.e. the clients MAC address.
Is there any way to resolve the MAC address of the client at this point!?
Sure most protocol analyzer does this in a sec but I want a solution that builds on realtime sniffing where a trap in some way will be sent as soon an unknown client (MAC) makes a DHCPDiscover. I.e a script/software that works in realtime and no solution that include start..stop..then analyze if you know what I mean.
Any thoughts about a solution to my problem?
Perhaps someone know a DHCP server, analyzer or other software that could help me!?
