I just formatted my computer, and when now when i go to change the resoultion it freezes when i click the settigns tab. Then it gives a RunDLL erorr and my mouse freezes. Im all out of ideas of what to do. Im gettign realyl pissed now because im stuck in this huge ass 800x600 res. Can anyone help me? I alrdy installed my video card drivers. Im running 98ed. :(

first thing is first, uninstall teh video card drivers...then go to
C:\windows\INF and look for the driver that is associated withthat video card and delete it.
then reboot your computer and try to reinstall the video driver again. fi the problem persists try reformatting the comptuer one mroe time...but after you do that try the video card first...

shadow.. i did what you said and its still isnt working :(

Is your video "on-board" and do you have a utility

Here what ive tryed so far.

- Formated computer twice
- Updated Video card drivers
- Updated Direct x
- Ran scankdisk twice.

Isnt there a way to change the resolution and color bit
without having to go into settings? Man im stumpped on
this one.

Are you sure they're the right drivers? I had this problem before when someone installed slightly different drivers to what they should have. They got the top resolution and colour etc, but you got the occasional errors. Once I put the correct ones in they stopped.

Go to START -> RUN and type dxdiag

Run the tests in the graphics card section. Does it mention anything about your driver in there, e.g. is it didgitally signed?
Usually it doesn't matter if the driver isn't signed, but you'll find that the signed ones work better.

Regards

yes it is signed :/ I wonder if i should just get win2k?
