Resolution confusion

Hi,
i am capturing from a gv d-1000 ntsc and i set the files to come in 720x480....when i open them in quicktime still the info shows 720x480(640x480)...why? what does this mean? why do i have the 640x480 resolution in brackets since the clip is 720x480? please help
