Client has 230 page book and old publisher has gone out of business. New printer requires slightly smaller page size, but isn't prepared to alter file ie we must supply them with file as we want it. I have In Design files (but not the fonts etc to go with them) and a pdf. I have a full version of Acrobat and my preferred route would be to change the pdf. Can I simply change the page size throughout the document? (only talking about 4mm width and 6 mm height reduction) I've tried doing it through "Crop Pages" command, but keep getting a message saying " Can't reduce page size". Can't see anything else in the help files - anyone out there with any clues?

You can open the pdf and go to Page Setup. Select Adobe pdf as the printer and set the page size via the cutom option if the needed size is not there.

Then go to Print. Select Adobe pdf as the printer and scale to fit to papaer in the scaling section. When you hit Print you'll get a save box. It will save the new pdf fitting the new paper.

Be careful that your width to height ratio for the paper is the same as the old one. If not, it won't work properly.

If necessary you can alsways brint the pdf into Indesign (there's a script available from adobe for multipage pdf import scroll through to find it) and then use the fit to on teh object menu to shrink it.

Using OSX 10.3.9 on a G4
