We replaced a site with 2 Siemens ISDX a few years back with a CS1000E SMG, they have an emergency room where they had a port from each ISDX (port A or port B for every phone), in case of an issue with one of the ISDX they can physically unplug the phone and plug it into the other PABX and business as usual. The replacement for that was CS1000 and just used two separate Media Gateways with the a digital card in each and identical config on each so again one appearance from each gateway to 2 physical ports at the desk. The phones also have appearances of each others numbers to act as backup for each other. An example of the kind of thing would be as below, so user 1&2 may be on GW 1 and User 3 on GW 2, but a call to any of the numbers would still ring all phones.

This site is moving over to IPO Server Edition and at this site there is 2 IP500v2 Gateways Plus Primary and Secondary server. What's the best way to achieve similar (IP Is not an option digital only)?

Resilience won’t work unless there is at least 1 iPhone setup.

The reason is very clear ..it needs the ip phone to trigger the resilience as the system monitors the ip phone.

IP office won’t allow duplicate users and extension .

Read the document on IP Office server resilience.

The ip500 gateways can use the secondary if the primary goes down for routing
So the phones can still get the calls across the network.

You could have each gateway set up with different numbers and the users would log in with there actual user number.

That way if one gateway is down then plug in the phone to the other system and log in again with there user (extension number)

It’s called Hotdesking read about this

Yep I get the resiliency bit for IP, the main part is the distribution of the calls so a call to say 4000 could be ringing on The user that is configured as 4000 on gateway 1 but also at the same time another key on a different user on gateway 2.

This is mainly to cover for hardware failure or unavailable for whatever reason, in the case say 4000 is configured on Gateway 1 but the gateway is down, you cannot hot desk it to gateway 2 I guess? Or would you config the users in the server no phones assigned and then they can hot desk on either gateway and get the resilience of both servers for their profile.

Or is the solution to make 4000 a collective Hunt Group number on the Primary server (resilient on secondary) can the members be on separate gateways simultaneously ringing?

Managed to get it functioning as requested so post it back here in case any one is interested for similar. For me we have IPO SE with Primary and Secondary servers and 9 IP500v2 Gateways. Where I was trying to set this up the site has 2 IP500v2 gateways and the control room has on the old system (CS1000) 2 sockets for each digital phone so if they have an issue (Card or Gateway down for example) then they just unplug the phone and plug it into the second gateway and carry on. I set it up in the following way and told them as they only have a few phones that if they move the phones they should move them all so they are on the same gateway.

Example below for 2 users
Gateway 1
User 1
Key 1 (and a couple of other keys) extension and appearance 6004000
Key 2 Bridged Appearance 6004001

User 2
Key 1 (and a couple of other keys) extension and appearance 6004001
Key 2 Bridged Appearance 6004000

Incoming route 4000 to 6004000 and failover to 6014000
Incoming route 4001 to 6004001 and failover to 6014001

Gateway 2
User 1
Key 1 (and a couple of other keys) extension and appearance 6014000
Key 2 Bridged Appearance 6014001

User 2
Key 1 (and a couple of other keys) extension and appearance 6014001
Key 2 Bridged Appearance 6014000

Incoming route 4000 to 6004000 and failover to 6014000
Incoming route 4001 to 6004001 and failover to 6014001

Also they had some numbers they only have to answer and do not make calls out, I setup Users with no extension assigned (one on each gateway) for those numbers and then used Coverage Appearances on the phones and setup the incoming call route the same with the virtual user on gateway 1 and fail over to the user on gateway 2.

Its a fairly specific set of requirements but if it helps someone in the future you are welcome to it :)
